INITIAL PAYMENT. Initial payment is due within 7 days
of setting up an account. Accounts not paid within
7 days will be deactivated, and a reactivation fee
will apply.
BILLING. All Internet bills will be sent by email. Customer
may request to be billed by mail instead. There will
be a charge of $1/billing period by mail.
DUE DATE. Monthly Internet accounts are due on the 1st
day of the service month, and delinquent after the 15th
day of the service month. Six- and 12-month contracts
are due on the first day of the first service month,
and are delinquent after the 15th day of the first service
month. Multi-month contracts not paid by the last day
of the first service month will revert to monthly, and
regular monthly charges will apply to the first month
and all subsequent months until timely multi-month payment
is received.
PRORATION OF INITIAL MONTH. Monthly accounts will be
charged for one full month, plus a prorated amount for
the initial month (if less than a full month), at signup.
Six- and 12-month contracts will be charged a prorated
amount for the initial month (if less than a full month),
in addition to the 6 or 12 months, at signup. Partial
months are prorated based on a 30-day month.
AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS. We encourage the use of automatic
payment plans for monthly customers. Customer may authorize
a Pre-Authorized Charge (PAC) to a credit card, by filling
out a form at the Computer Place. There is no charge
for and may be terminated immediately by written, phone
or emailed request.
LATE FEE. Delinquent accounts will be subject to a late
fee, currently set at $5.
DEACTIVATION. Late notices will be
sent, via email, to all accounts which are more than
7 days past due.
Accounts which become one full month late (that is, are
not paid by the 16th day of the second month) will be
subject to automatic deactivation. Deactivation does
not relieve Customer of the obligation to pay past charges
or ongoing charges. Monthly charges will continue to
accrue (as email will continue to be collected) until
account is reactivated or terminated. Accumulated email
may be collected only when account is paid in full.
COLLECTION. NSF checks will be assessed a $15 fee. Accounts
which become three months delinquent will be unilaterally
terminated (and email deleted) by the Computer Place,
and customers will be sent to collections.
TERMINATION. For customers' protection, notice of account
must be in writing and include the Customer's signature.
Notice may be mailed to The Computer Place at P.O. Box
1099, Friday Harbor, WA 98250, or faxed to (360) 378-8496.
Terminations will be confirmed by the Computer Place
by email or by phone. Charges continue to accrue until
an account is terminated.
SUSPENSION. Customers may suspend accounts for up to
8 months at a time. Suspended accounts will keep the
username, but will not have login privileges or access
to email. Accounts must be current in order to be suspended.
Email may be kept active, or forwarded, for furloughed
accounts, for a fee, which must be prepaid for the entire
furlough period.
FURLOUGH. Customers may furlough accounts for up to
8 months at a time. Furloughed accounts will keep the
username, but will not have login privileges or access
to email. Accounts must be current in order to be furloughed.
Email may be kept active, or forwarded, for furloughed
accounts, for a fee, which must be prepaid for the entire
furlough period.
PRORATION OF LAST MONTH. Final months will be prorated
based on a 30-day month.
REACTIVATION. Deactivated, terminated, and furloughed
accounts will be reactivated only when past due amounts,
plus a reactivation fee, are paid in full.
TEMPORARY ACCOUNTS. Accounts of known short duration
(less than 3 months), usually for visitors to the county,
must be prepaid in their entirety at setup. Customer
may call to extend if stay is extended, or recieve a
refund if he/she leaves earlier than expected. Partial
months will be prorated at the rate of $1/day, to a maximum
of the current monthly charge.
REFUND OF PREPAID ACCOUNTS. Terminated
prepaid accounts may be refunded as follows: The setup
fee and first month's
service are not refundable. Subsequent months in a prepaid
contract will be refunded by calculating the charges
for the served months at the current monthly rate, and
subtracting that amount from the prepaid amount. For
example, if Customer prepays $114 ($19/month) for 6 months
when the monthly rate is $20 and terminates after 2 months,
he/she would receive a refund of $74 ($114 - $40).
